Currently, U.S. law prohibits flight in excess of Mach 1 over land unless specifically authorized by the FAA.

Recently (2021), the FAA passed a ruling allowing for infrequent, experimental testing of supersonic flight over US land. Several planemakers (Aerion, Boom, Spike) have been aggresively developing small-scale supersonic planes in recent years, and Boom has even received orders for planes from American Airlines, United, and Japan Airlines.

Seems like this should be close to 50% with no creator activity since before the big executive order. Obviously disagreement will be about whether the noise ordinance testing is enough of a block to claim it's "still not legal."
