Update 2025-11-24 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The creator has unresolved the market and will wait longer before making a final resolution decision (given the emphasis on the word "official" in the title).
Update 2025-11-25 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The market was initially resolved YES based on Reuters reporting, but has been reopened after the creator determined that Reuters' reporting about DOGE being shut down was inaccurate. The creator will wait for more definitive information before resolving again.

@NotJeromeHPowell Reuters lied about DOGE being shutdown, so after initially resolving the market YES, it has been reopened. Lesson: do not trust the media.
@SG idk man, I would have taken your money at a limit order at 90%. There was no official document or statement even if the org had been paired down. Bro was vague enough to leave the possibility open for the shell of doge to still be around.
@SG I dunno. I think youβre kidding. Probably. But the Reuters article was accurate. It just wasnβt written in the context of this market. DOGE is basically closed just not officially.
@Quroe Sorry. I don't think it should have closed in the first place, but reopening might be even worse. Now nothing makes any sense.
@TonyBaloney The thing is, I don't even know who or what I want to aim my ire at here. I feel like I would have made the same decisions in SG's place over the past 48 hours. I'm upset, sure, but I should count my blessings that I only lost play money here.
I feel like I might be the villain here for pushing as hard as I did for a resolution, and I got my just deserts.
I wish there was a description on this market, but I accepted the terms and conditions (or lack thereof) for trading here in the first place. C'est la vie.
@Quroe yeah, I think that that's a good attitude. I felt semi-strongly that I was right, but when polymarket settled the similar market, I figured the easiest course of action for SG was to close it too. It makes sense, I guess. And polymarket had rules, which kind of supported their determination more than manifolds. However, in the same way that I didn't think the initial statement meant anything, I don't think the tweet that it was open means anything either. None of it is official. Tweets and quotes from politicians are not really what bureaucrats mean by the word "official." If SG wanted to take a looser interpretation of that word, then fine, but I don't see any reason to backtrack on that now.
@JussiVilleHeiskanen Correct. Any limit order I have up anywhere right now is ethereal and will not fill. They will be immediately broken if challenged.
@Quroe i just opened skribbl io right after your comment and it was 4 letters so its doge and closed it instantly to post here
doge.gov [chef's kiss] This is what I see when I land on the page right now. However, the page populates when I turn on a VPN. This is so strange.

I think markets that are unresolved by their Manifold employee and/or Mod creator who immediately becomes one of the biggest holders should be unranked! I do not have a position on this market and I do not think SG meant anything untoward (or particularly cares about leagues), just a matter of precedent.
@Panfilo I don't think that 'not meaning anything untoward' is meaningful here. Creators shouldn't bet when they are doing so [edit: when they are reopening a market ] because they have additional information afforded by being the creator. Looking at the log, it seems that SG wasn't exactly the first to bet after the market reopened, but they were the one to make the devastating market adjustment bet and that's a privilege entirely afforded by knowing that the market had just been reopened.
@Panfilo I consider "not trading immediately after reopening" to be good etiquette by any creator, but I wouldn't unrank a non-mod's market over it. It's a classic case of "Trader Beware! Manifold encourages insider knowledge!" and I think that's the ethos this place was built on, even if it's not how I prefer to handle my own markets. A little chaos in Leagues is good for keeping them interesting, I suppose.
@Stralor I haven't tried to do so recently: can non-mods unresolve their markets in general, or just in a narrow condition, these days?
